What should I wear to my appointment?
If we are treating your feet you will not be asked to undress but if we are treating your spine, you will be so comfortable and modest underwear or even a pair of shorts is appropriate.
Do I have to be referred by a doctor?
No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorise cover of fees, some only require a phone call.
How many visits will I need?
The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the physiotherapist will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.
A: There are no sex hormones in urine, and the presence of sex hormones is necessary for any reliable and scientifically-sound gender test. The early gender reveal test is a DNA test, and DNA does contain sex hormones. Peekaboo analysis looks for the presence of the Y chromosome in the DNA contained in the mother’s blood, which determines whether the mother is having a boy or a girl. A: Hydrate well! Please consume a full 8 ounces of water 20 minutes prior to your appointment collecting your sample. This helps blood flow faster and can help to reduce collection time. Drinking water prior to collection also helps the sample to mix with the preservative in the vial more effectively. Don’t skip this essential step!
A: The labs scientists isolate cell-free fetal DNA from the mother’s blood, followed by amplification of both Y-chromosome and autosomal-specific regions using the latest quantitative real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology. The lab analysts are looking for the presence of the Y chromosome, which only males have. If the Y chromosome is present, then the baby is a boy; if it is not present, then it’s a girl!
A: Results are emailed to you typically between 1-3 business days.
A: The lab test is validated at 7 weeks of pregnancy or later. Accuracy at earlier times is unknown. There is an increased risk of an incorrect female result prior to 7 weeks’ gestation as the fetal DNA could be below the detection limit of the assay.
